Brick pattern tiles

After yesterdays post i was thinking how its amazing how the way you lay out tiles can give you a totally different look, laying tiles in a brick pattern (sometimes called butchers or subway tiles) always gives a classic or more rustic feel. You can make it slightly more modern by choosing rectified tiles (flat with sharp edges) or more rustic by having beveled edges.

  1. And they are right back in fashion too, aren't they?? After years of having to convince clients that not all tiles have to be stacked, it's wonderful to see the old brick bonds back again. They are all good patterns, in my book, both stacked and brick bonds - just depends on the building.

  2. I am a huge fan of the classic subway tile. I'm having them laid in my new bathroom and as my kitchen splash back. Timeless.

  6. Have really enjoyed looking through your blog....beautiful pics of inspiring rooms. I am currently brainstorming for our downstairs bathroom & found you through a google search on Penny Rounds :) Still a bit scared of the grout issue :) I see you are in Sydney, I am in Perth :)
