Bedside Lamps...

Yet another decision to make for our new home.....bedside lamps!
Its an important one for me - im a bit of a lamp lover!
You might remember this is our old bedroom {from the adore shoot}.
We had a pair of big white lamps with gold lined shades either side of the bed.
I love using larger scale lamps next to a bed as i feel small lamps just look...piddly!
Unfortunately one of these lamps got broken when we were moving, so we need a new 'pair'...

My decision is, do i use a similar kind of thing - large with nice fabric shades....
Or to change it up with something more minimal & industrial like these......

Your thoughts?

Beaded Chandelier

You know when theres something you just HAVE to have?
For me its been a beaded chandelier - and I've been lusting after one for years!
I added one to a little story board i made for our new place...I thought it looked awesome...
The husband pointed at said chandelier & said, and i quote, 'What the hell is that thing'? Not really the response i was after!
I just need to find the perfect place for one & i will win him over eventually!

Wooden Chandelier Love

Im a bit in love with these wooden beaded chandeliers that have started to pop up.
If i currently had a home {we are house sitting since selling our place} i would be finding a place for one!
The husband has banned me from hoarding things - Probably a wise call. Could get dangerous!

Digging this style of steel & glass pendant light at the moment!
You can get similar from La Maison if you are Sydney based.

Design Tip!

It occurred to me last week that one thing i notice a lot is bad use of scale in bedrooms. I often see people with large beds (as most of them are!) & tiny little lamps that are totally lost & a bare wall behind the bed & said lamps. Increasing the scale of your bedside lamps will make them a feature & will anchor the bed. A lot of people think 'oh i have a small room so i cant put big things in it as it will make it look too full' but thats not the case at all. A few larger items (& not 100's of small ones!) in a room will actually make it appear larger!

Fairy Lights

I really think fairly lights can make any space look amazing! The first thing i did when we moved into our apartment (im talking on the way home from work the day we got the keys before id even been in there) was to stop off at bunnings on the way home & grab some fairy lights for our balcony! 3 years later they are still wrapped around our railing where i put them that first day & ill never tire of them!

Love me a good Chandelier!

This living room is my idea of perfection i have to say! The exposed bricks & tiles (insulation?!....downfalls of  working in construction..you notice these things!), the sheer curtains, the rafters, THE PINK SOFA! the chandelier!
