Byron Bay - Eats

Im back from a week in Byron Bay with Ben spent relaxing & spending time in the sun, sea &.... well, doing a lot of eating!
I was so appreciative of all the blog & instagram friends who sent me suggestions of shops to see & places to eat.
We did find it rather expensive to eat out every meal, next time we will be finding somewhere to stay that has a kitchen!
Seeing as we sampled almost every place in town, I thought id share our favourites with you!

Definitely our favourite. We were in Byron for 7 days & ate here 6 times (& a lot of the time when we were eating elsewhere, we thinking we should have just gone here). The service is friendly & fast, the food is fantastic, simple & fresh, unlike most other places we found, you get a decent serving for what you pay! Breakfasts were amazing & the salads at lunch enormous (see below!)

A bit out of town, on a corner up the top of a hill in a residential area.
Great coffee, yummy house made granola with yogurt & acai bowls for breakfast, & fab salads & burgers for lunch.
It was a good stop off on our way to hike to the lighthouse {we walked around the headlands on the bush path - loved it}.

Id come just to stare at this wall created by Jai of Ahoy Trader!
Only recently opened, and always chic a block full! We loved the deluxe burritos & the snapper ceviche.
Come for happy hour to take advantage of the $10 margaritas!
You could also try their other restaurant Asia Joes, in the lane behind the Beach Hotel - we went here twice.
Great stirfrys & curries, $1.50 corkage for wine & free for beer! A good cheap & cheerful!

Love love loved this place! We went here for my birthday dinner.
Tapas style menu & fantastic cocktails.
Not many places you go to & drool over every bite of every dish.
Don't miss the soft shell crab sliders, salad, slow cooked beef cheeks & catalan bread
{we had the coca con higo you can see on the menu below}
Not the cheapest meal, but a must do if your in Byron!

HARVEST {Newrybar - about a 20min drive}
Tiny little town just off the Pacific highway, about 5 mins sough of Bangalow.
Harvest grows a lot of their own produce on site or on their farm close by & the Goats cheese terrine i had was to die for!
They also have a Deli with some pretty special produce next door.

Others we loved were dinner at Targa, sushi at O-Sushi & lunch at Belongil Bistro.

  1. I've just got home to Sydney from a week in Byron and I have a serious case of the post-holiday blues! I agree with wanting to eat at dip every day, the corn fritters were delicious!! Mis margarita's was a treat too, again the snapper ceviche was drool-worthy! Glad you had a good time!
    I would recommend staying at the Byron beach suites.. they have a really well appointed kitchenette, and although theres no stove, there is a bbq AND dishwasher :) Hope this helps for your next trip!
