Our Kilimanjaro Expedition Documentary!

A few months back i was the Australian member of a team of 12 Type 1 Diabetics to go to Africa to climb mount Kilimanjaro.
We hope to inspire others with Diabetes, other illnesses or indeed no medical issues, to get out there & have a go!
We had a camera crew with us & this was the film they made about the expedition
It was released today for World Diabetes Day.
Hope you enjoy {and get a laugh out of how terrible i look!}

Makeover your desk with TYPO

I dont know about you but I love Typo! It's rather hard to go in there & come out empty handed!
Something else i love is a great workspace!
So when Typo asked if i would like to take part in their Desk Rescue Campaign it was a no-brainer! Um, YES!!!
Yes, you heard it folks, Typo are giving away 3 'Desk Rescue Packs' worth over $600 each!
Its really simple to enter, just head over to their Facebook page and upload a photo of your tragic looking desk!

Let me inspire you with my own 'Desk Rescue'
My workspace was looking a bit lacklustre....However a trip to Typo has fixed all that!
Behold my new desk space! Its all in the details, so let me take you on a tour!

First up, what you cant see off to the left is my new friend & the gorgeous magnetic baroque white board.
Ive been loving working at night with the Hydrangea lanterns on!

I am a bit old school & like to send hand written cards.
I filled the mail holder with a variety of Birthday & Thank you cards - always good to have a few on hand!
How cute is the OMG gold foil card
Im also a bit of a bandit for colour co-ordinated stationary (did someone say OCD?)
I used a milk bottle to fill with pencils & pens & grabbed a 'Morning Cup' full of tiffany blue pins, paper & bulldog clips!

Some tunes on a cute radio and a cup of tea from a pretty teacup always makes working more pleasurable!
Ive been using the little gold toadstool to store my USB sticks that always tend to go missing!

Then just for something different, I created a corner as a wrapping station.
Its aways handy to have paper, some cute cards & ribbon or twine on hand - especially with Christmas approaching.
In my opinion the wrapping is as important as the gift inside {i spend far to much time on wrapping}!
And of course, given my obsession with all things French, i can see a bit of a theme developing here!
Hello awesome Eiffel tower scissors!!!
I've filled a vase with ribbon, twine & gift tags, & used some stamps to decorate envelopes!
The gorgeous gold faceted vase is also actually a pen holder!

And last but not least I think its always nice to have fresh flowers on your desk
I used typo's skull pen holder as a vase! Loving their super cool 'Book of Skulls' too!

Big thanks to Natasha Mulhall Photography for the beautiful images!

I never tire of listening to the 'Born to Die'  - I listen to it while i work, drive & run!
And i admit i have a little girl crush on Lana del Ray... she is as cool as her music in my opinion!
Hello old Hollywood glamour!

Happy Cup Day!

Happy Melbourne Cup Day! Are you up to anything today to celebrate?
I used to work in an office where we didn't do anything aside from listen to the radio for the 3mins it was on!
Now that i work for myself my husband & i go out for lunch & to watch the race somewhere.
{although the year before last i was on a building site with all the tradies listening to the radio haha}
Have a great day whatever you are up to & good luck if you place a bet!

Vegetable Patch

I love gardening.
There is something so satisfying seeing something you have planted grow. A few weeks ago i went to an event hosted by Jamie Durie & we were all given a packet of coriander seeds to take home. Last weekend i planted them in pot we had free & what do you know, yesterday it was full of green spouts! My excitement was somewhat childlike i suspect ;)
I also have a pack of seeds for baby tomatoes so they'll be finding a spot this weekend! We grow rosemary, mint, oregano, chives & have a bay tree - one day i would love to have a big vegggie garden where we can grow as much of our food as possible!

The Wedding Nest

 Last week i met up for a chat with Jacqui from The Wedding Nest
Firstly - where was this registry when i got married!!!???
Secondly - we had a very unconventional 'meeting' of a coffee {ok yes thats normal}....
Then we got our bikinis on & went for a swim at Balmoral! Hello - my kinda get together!

Like our style of 'business meeting', this registry isn't your conventional arrangement!
Although they do have the registry 'basics' {kitchenware & linen} the focus is on beautiful home wares, statement artwork & furniture.
To help guide your choices, the site is curated in 4 styles - French, Eclectic, Beach & Contemporary.

Jacqui tells me they stared the business after their own weddings, when they realised there was a gap in the market.
None of the beautiful things they'd seen in magazines were available on any registries so they set about creating the type of registry they had wanted to use themselves!

The Wedding Nest thrives on making it personal;
They love the couple to provide them with magazine pages, Pinterest boards etc & can help curate registry items based on your style.
There is even a styling service by Imogen Naylor, who will help you choose items & then style it once the goods arrive!

Im having trouble looking at their stunning website without wanting to re-do my wedding registry! {vow renewal??}

Registries are laid out visually so your guests can see the 'look' they are helping to create.
This 'lookbook' style & reference images helps make the registry more personal & the gift giver not feel like
they are 'just giving a vase but contributing to the whole style of your home'.

Some of their suppliers include; Penny Farthing Design House, Ahoy Trader, Bonnie & Neil, Mud Australia, Uashmama & Mateus Ceramics. But they also have one off items from exotic locations - think juju headdresses & cowrie shell necklaces.

If you are about to tie the knot get on over to The Wedding Nest & deck out that house of yours :)
