A bit behind the times!

Ok ok so i know im about 2 years behind the times....
But i finally ordered this on the weekend from here!
Cant NOT have this in my collection right!
Cannot WAIT till it arrives!
Have any of you guys got it?? Does it live up to the hype??

On Yer Bike!

The bike fetish continues....
(no thanks to my nightly tour de france watching) Allow me to chronicle the past month of my bike obsession....

Thanks to the Design Files for alerting me to this!
(and i know a few people have posted on it lately too)
Oh lordy lord i am having heart palpitations!

You can build your won 'vintage' bicycle & it is seriously well priced at around $560 including delivery!

Meanwhile im still watching this beauty on ebay

SO perfect for just going up to the shops & getting...you know...stuff!
After i just showed him the picture for the 18th time the other half just asked "so will it live in the garage with my bikes??" (Yes, with his 4 bikes!) and i said "no! in the living room!"...and he says you just want it to look at like a piece of art...um...yeah! so?!

And the latest in the chronicles of 'i want a vintage bike';
Sydney's Clarence Street Cyclery have just opened a womens only store & has some 'urban' bikes made by 'serious' bike maker Gary Fischer! Check em out - pretty special!

Gary Fischer Ladies Simple City 3 $899 (just needs a basket!)

And the mens (not so pretty) version
Gary Fischer Simple City 8 $1299

last but not least.  Melbourne company The Humble Vintage Bike Co. where you can hire vintage bikes & do tours of the city! Cute idea!

New blog obsession - Decor Demon!

So because its friday i thought id share with you what ill be doing for  the whole weekend for a few hours this weekend. Sitting down & reading the entire back catalogue of this am-aaaa-zing blog i have just discovered! I have to send a big thankyou to Kelly Green for finding it & say its refreshing to see another male blogger around! (Hi Will!)

Décor Demon creator Brian Patrick Flynn is a television producer turned self-taught decorator/designer.  The moniker “Décor Demon” comes from Brian’s fast-paced weekend routine of furiously raiding garage sales and flea markets for one-of-a-kind pieces with which he creates edgy-meets-elegant spaces. Flynn’s TV production credits range from news at an NBC affiliate in South Florida to design and reality shows on Discovery Channel, HGTV, TBS and Fox. In addition to being an associate producer, Brian is also the set decorator and on-air design talent for the TBS series, Movie & a Makeover. So what the %$&* is Decor Demon? Lifestyle editorial…with an edge. Easily amused.
Not so easily impressed. Our content is for the bold, the beautiful, and the bad ass.

Here is a small sample - the bedroom of designer Betsy Burnhmas teenage daughter. um omg. do you think she'd adopt me??

Saved the best image for last - don't you agree!
is anyone feeling tight in the chest??
you know that so good i think im going to have a heart attack feeling??
(just told my other half this & he looked at me quite strangely but i know you guys know what i mean...right?)

oh ok heres a bit more...oh good lord!

Have a great weekend!
Sal x

You are my sunshine.

In fact it inspired this whole post!

An award!

What a lovely way to end the week last week!
I received the Sunshine Award from Elements at Home!
My first blog award! I think these are so cute, and really represent how supportive the whole blogging community is of each other!

With this award i am supposed to tell you 7 things you may not know about me...

1. I am a type one diabetic
(who has a terrible sweet tooth..ironic.)

2. I hate driving other people cars - as soon as i get in them i seem to forget how to drive! I think im worried ill crash?

3. I talk in my sleep. incoherantly aparently (thankgod!)

4. I am scared witless of rides. I went to disneyland a few years ago (as a 25yr old) and was in tears after going on a kids rollercoaster - how lame am i! Its really a fear of that falling sensation i think...in anycase i am known in my family as 'the bag minder'. Also scared witless of flying which is a problem because i love to travel...have recently banned myself from watching air crash investigation & usually need a good 4 or 5 beverages on the plane before i stop gripping the arms of my seat.

5. I hate being inside or sitting still for too long!
Give me the great outdoors!
Love the surf, the snow, bush trails & fresh air!

6. I once creid in an episode of Baywatch.
(too amusing not to share!)
Also cry in tv adds with old people.

7. Drinks of choice;
Skim Flat white with 2 sugars once daily.
Champagne or a margarita!

now have to pass it on!
hmmmm ok i pass the sunshine award onto some aussie ladies who have become my bf's (bloggy freinds!) They all inspire me, encourage me & make me laugh every day!

Praia Piquinia 27/08/09 15h17
by Christian Chaize ARTIST STATEMENT:

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."

Five years ago, Portugal did present itself as a new landscape in my life - both literally and metaphorically. Since then, I have photographed exclusively along a very small stretch of its southern coastline. Returning to this specific place, I've sought out its nuances. In doing so, I have peeled back layers of how I see, and how I experience this magical environment.
The results of my slight obsession have evolved into two distinct series. Here are two images from Praia Piquinia, a body of work focusing on a singular, secluded beach front in which all of the pictures are taken from essentially the same elevated angle. What the still life was for Morandi, this beach is for me. From a distance, I observe the variables: light, weather, time of day, the ebb and flow of the ocean, and the sunbathers, unaware, below my large format camera. The images are shot vertically, a departure from the traditional, horizontal format in landscape photography. It puts my subject matter in the form of a portrait - an ongoing record of this ethereal yet playful nook in nature over the minutes, the days, the years. Ultimately, I try to instill an element of time within these captured moments... visceral time, elastic from one image to another. And always, I seek to have new eyes.
