Christening the Kitchenaid - Spiced Coconut Macaroons!

Last week i became the proud owner of the kitchen appliance i have dreamt about ...well forever!
Look how pretty she is!

So after spending my friday night wine in hand, watching the instructional dvd i decided saturday was the day i was no longer a kitchenaid virgin! Is it sad to be this in love with a kitchen appliance?? Probably but i dont care!
Anyway i made these spiced coconut macaroons! Yum.

Ingrediants
• Cornflour for dusting
• 1 egg yolk and 3 egg whites, at room temperature
• 250g (1 cup) caster sugar
• 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
• 200g (approx 3 rounded cups) shredded coconut
• 1 teaspoon each ground cardamom & cinnamon, combined

Method:

Preheat the oven to 150 °  Line 2 biscuit trays with baking paper, dust with cornflour.

Beat egg yolk & 1/4 of the sugar until thick and creamy. Set bowl aside.

Beat egg whites and remaining sugar for beat 5 minutes or until very thick and glossy.
(this mixer made the BEST whites!)

Add the set aside egg yolk mixture, spices, lemon zest, and coconut to the meringue.

Fold untill mixture comes together. Do not over mix.

Spoon tablespoon amounts of mixture onto the trays, allowing for the biscuits to spread slightly.  Bake on the middle and lower shelf for about 22 minutes or until firm to touch and lightly golden (do not over bake).  Let cool for 5 minutes on trays before transferring to a cooling rack.
Yummo!
And.... i forgot to take a photo of the finished product!
whoops....too busy eating them obviously!
Really easy & great just to have with a coffee!

Peacock Mirrors...my new obsession...

So if any of you  look at my side bar & even might remember my first ever post you'll know that this is one of my favorite images ever...and if i ever have a house this big i plan for it to look exactly like this!

Image: Domino

Anyhow....have seen the sex & the city 2 movie twice now...the second time around, after i had processed the fact that Aiden was in the market & carries ridiculous skirt i spied the mirror from my domino  image obsession in the background! I know right, only interior/homewares looneys like me/you would notice such a thing! YESSSSSS! Now i know where to get one! I just have to go to Morocco!

Image: Rickshaw design

You seem to be able to buy them at both ludicrously expensive & half decent prices in America - does anyone know of anywhere in Australia i might be able to get my mitts on one of these?? Short of going to flight centre & buying tickets to Morocco??

'Complete Pad'

I know ive said it before, but i have to say it again! When i started this blog i dont know what i expected, but i never thought id come across people though it who i found so inspiring or that id actually meet up with them!
One of these people is Bronywn Poole - she became a follower of my blog a few weeks ago & little did i know she was also the owner of an online interiors store called 'Complete Pad' that had a facebook fan page i was a member of. Over a picture of Kelly Wearstlers Imperial Trellis fabric we traded comments & realised not only was she a follower of my blog, but that she worked only about 1km down the road from me! So we met up or lunch!
I found her so inspiring - only in her early 30's she started her own successful interior design business Touch Interiors straight out of university & has now added an amazing online store called Complete Pad.
She has a ridiculous amounts of amaaaazzzing furniture, homewares, accessories & lighting all at trade prices! You can buy single pieces or with their help you can purchase everything - the 'Complete Pad'.

So - here is my 'edit' of my favorite pieces from the online store! And im telling you, this was one hard post to put together, there are so many great items in her store - yes its a long one but it really could have been twice as long. Head over to the shop & you'll see what i mean!

Infact they have so many good pieces im going to do a second half to this post tomorrow with lighting art & accessories! Would you believe this seemingly huge online store is run by Bronwyn & 3 girls (hi girls!) out of a little sandstone cottage in sydney.
Lets support a small Aussie business - i hope you'll all go check it out!
